The lines "I went out to the deep Northwood/ Because a fire was in my head" - which appear several times in the song - came from the poem "The Song of the Wandering Angus" by William Butler Yeats, but with a slight variation. In the poem, the lines go: "I went out to the hazel wood,/ Because a fire was in my head" (thanks Shallowshe!).
