19:12:2004 :: The Uh Huh Her Tour officially ended last (Friday's) night, during a private gig with The Libertines in Paris. Access to the concert was made available through a phone contest. Fortunately, a few fans could get in &posted a setlist and their comments, which I added on the specific page on the current tour section.

Rumours have been spreading, mostly due to this NME article, about Polly being willing to quit the on-stage scene forever. These rumours are, however, not confirmed by any official source (as I wouldn't consider NME one) nor by the fans who were at the show and generally interpreted PJ's remark as a joke.

16:12:2004 :: Polly Jean Harvey and band member Joss were at Mayda Vale BBC Radio 1 studios tonight for the previously announced Keep It Peel show: they performed a short set of live, acoustic songs, including a very touching version of Horses (In MY Dreams), Fountain and the muchly expected &appreciated You Come Through. Polly Jean also 'launched' Captain Beefheart's Dropout Boogie, to be played right before she went on her set.

You can listen to three songs performed (as recorded from the webcast) in real audio format by clicking the links below.

14:12:2004 :: it is confirmed: Polly Harvey and band member Josh will be performing a short acoustic set on this coming Thursday, December 16th, during BBC Radio 1 "Keep It Peel" tribute broadcast: the show will be hosted by Steve Lamacq starting at 7pm GMT and featuring different artists &bands until 1am GMT. 12:12:2004 :: setlist, link to photographs &comments for special Royal Court Theatre have been posted. As announced, Polly did perform a semi-acoustic set, including real threats such as Taut, There Will Never Be A Better Time, the seldomly played Desperate Kingdom Of Love and the two covers Janet vs Johnny &James (The Fall) and Hipshake (Rolling Stones).

Reportedly, the show was recorded in its entirety by BBC3 "Mixing It" and should be aired (as a whole or in part) somewhen in March, 2005. Definitely, stay tuned!

10:12:2004 :: tickets might still be available albeit in limited number for the special PJ Harvey's show at the Royal Court Theatre: try calling + 44 (0) 207 565 5000 and refer to personal callers at the Theatre's Box Office in Sloane Square, London SW1W8AS.

As previously announced, PJ Harvey will also be performing a "private gig" in support and with The Libertines: the concert is set to happen in Paris on December 17th: the exact venue location has not been unveiled. According to this post, fans have an opportunity to get a ticket (limited by a total number of 350), by entering a contest, sending the text "RATP" to the number "17456" with a mobile phone. Please note this isn't, as far as I know, official word and, not to be paranoid, but, as with anything on the internet, there's a chance for it to be fake, isn't it? I don't want to be held responsibile for your mobile phone bills, in other words, 'kay?

Part of PJ Harvey's sets from the Personal Festival in Buenos Aires and SUE Festival in Santiago de Chile were broadcast on radio, respectively on November 27th and December 8th: I've added details about the shows and airings, and I shall remind you that the Personal Festival broadcast shall be repeated on this coming Saturday, December 11th, on Radio Kabul (Argentina), although I'm unsure about the exact timing.

Polly is also rumoured to be taking part of the incoming John Peel Tribute that's going on air on BBC Radio 1 on next Thursday, December 16th. I'll keep you posted, shall I obtain any further details.

29:10:2004 :: having spent almost the entire evening tracking and gathering and organizing tour information &stuff, it's funny how making a list of the various updates might be actually the hardest part.

Let's start with a handful of live photographs from the San Diego show -- including on-site gallery (special thanks to J.Yoerg and K.Alysse for sending them in) and external links -- and from the second night at the Wiltern Theatre in LA. Also included is a small video clip from this very show and one live photograph from the first night at the Warfield in San Francisco, from the Contra Costa Times, which originally accompanied a review of the show, which I personally transcribed from the scan sent to me by "stanton4813" (thanks!).

Setlists and comments from the two Wiltern Theatre nights in LA and the two gigs at the Warfield in San Francisco have been posted, if by rough order.

PJ performed a shorter set on the first night at the Wiltern, possibly for hearing of John Peel's death and also dedicated her performance of the Fall's cover Janet vs Johnny and James to him on the second night's show. The Rolling Stones' cover Hip Shake was also performed on that night (it was first presented on stage at the Minneapolis show).

26:10:2004 :: John Peel has died.

When I first read this, I thought it was a joke.

But it's not April Foolsday and unless somewhere in the world (possibly not Peru) there's an Halloween related bad-taste jokes tradition that somehow managed to break through BBC's virtual walls, I'm afraid this is very true, and it makes me very sad.

For those of you who might not know (?), John Peel was a DJ for BBC Radio 1 and for years and years conducted the Peel Sessions program, either from the BBC Studios in London or from his very house (the Peel Acres).

PJ Harvey entered the world of British radio music with a brilliant live performance on the Peel Sessions in august 1991, which was later published on a promo disc by too:pure, her label at the time.

Polly Jean and John Parish performed a stunning semi-acoustic gig for John Peel's 60th birthday at the Improv Theatre in London in 1999, which was broadcast by BBC Radio1 and is a gem in music's history.

In the occasion of the official opening of the Stories tour, on October 26th, 2000, at the Cardiff Coal Exchange, John Peel introduced the band with a [I'm quoting loosely, by heart] "there's a few words in English and probably few words in Welsh more beautiful than this: P J Harvey!". that's part of the reason I so adore that broadcast.

Up to 2004, there has never been a PJH album release not followed (or anticipated) by a Peel Session.

I wish I could say something about the man, but I only 'knew' him in relation to Polly and because they were friends, so this is my way to remember him.

Rest in peace, John Peel, 1939-2004.

25:10:2004 :: setlist, comments and link to two (cell-phone?) live shots from the San Diego show have been posted. I've also added the setlist for the second San Francisco Warfield gig, while no info about the first night seems to be available. If you were at the show (or any of the incoming/current/previous concerts, for what matters!) and would like to share some information, please, do [just remember to remove the NOSPAM bit from the address before sending email to me]. Thank you.

19:10:2004 :: Confirmation and official statement about the cancellation of the Kansas City and Salt Lake City shows have been posted over at pjharvey.net. Tickets shall be refunded, while it doesn't seem that the shows will be rescheduled.

source: pjharvey.net.

19:10:2004 :: setlist and comments for last night's show in Denver have been posted. Songs performed included once again The Garden and also Horses in My Dreams, debuting on this tour.

Also added: a review for the Toronto show (links to a LJ post, actually), photographs for the second NYC night and Philadelphia show.

source: @forumz.

18:10:2004 :: the Oct. 17th Kansas City show was appearently cancelled: a post has been made over at the pjharvey.net ubboards by someone who calls himself DINGO (which would be the nickname of the current PJ Harvey's bassist).

At the moment, I'm not sure whether the Salt Lake City's show has been truly cancelled or not. If somebody could fill in with any clues, I would be very grateful [just remember to remove the NOSPAM bit from the address before sending email to me]. Thank you.

source: ubboards.

17:10:2004 :: setlist and comments for the Toronto concert have been posted.

Also added links to one lovely photograph from the 9:30 Club gig and to a nice public livejournal entry review for the same show.

source: @forumz.

16:10:2004 :: special thanks to CK Gill for sending me the complete setlists for the Detroit show, which included the debut (on this tour) of The Garden! Polly hadn't performed The Garden since the itd? tour and it has been greatly missed. The set also included Nina in Ecstasy, The Pocket Knife , Plants &Rags and Is This Desire?. CK Gill also sent in her comments about the show and a couple of photographs which you can see on the Detroit show dedicated page.

Also added a review from the Washington Post that sheds some light over the Black Duck accident occurred at the 9:30 Club gig and a small live shot from the Chicago show.

source: various.

15:10:2004 :: no setlist yet, but few comments and a small live shot from last night's show in Detroit have been added.

Also a heap of live &candid shots from the UK tour have been posted on the support band Knife &Fork's website.

source: ubboards.

14:10:2004 :: recent addition include: setlist &comments about last night's show at the 9:30 Club show in Washington, DC, links to live photographs from the Boston and Philadelphia gigs and, finally, one special review for the Providence show from Ms. Kore's personal website.

source: various.

12:10:2004 :: setlist &thoughts on last night's show in Providence have been posted.

source: various.

11:10:2004 :: setlist &comments from the Philadelphia show have been posted.

source: various.

10:10:2004 :: REMINDER! PJHarvey's set from the Eurockennes Festival in Belfort is going to be broadcast TONIGHT starting at 8.45pm GMT+1 on Frech TV channel MCM: set up your video recorders (analogical or digital)!

Additionally, (rough order) setlist, comments &few pictures from the Boston show have been posted: on her 35th birthday night, Polly is reported to have soloed C'm On Billy, debuting on this tour!

source: various.

08:10:2004 :: APCH EXCLUSIVE! On-site gallery with several great photographs from the Indianapolis show has been posted, courtesy of fan and photographer Jeffrey Wunderlich (thank you!).

Please, do not take/re-post these photographs before asking the photographer's permission first. Also, direct linking to pictures is not allowed (expecially not on forums or message-boards) as this would consume the host's bandwidth. Of course, you can put a link pointing towards the page the pictures are allocated within. Thanks for understanding.

I've also added more comments for the Chicago and Minneapolis shows: it seems that the cover song played in Minneapolis was actually Hip Shake originally by the Rolling Stones!

Also posted information about the two Hammerstein Ballroom shows in New York, including setlist and comments by fans.

source: various.

04:10:2004 :: I've finally come up to add full details for the America tour that's just taken off and the incoming Australia national tour: they're up on the current tour page and as complete as I could gather. Radio &TV appearences still reside on the same (current) section, whilst previous 2004 tour dates &related informations have been moved to the gigography section.

Setlists &comments for the Minneapolis, Chicago and Indianapolis shows have also been added.

If you've noticed a certain slacking on updates recently, that's because I'm growing slightly-to-mildly unmotivated about keeping and maintaining this site. It's a lot of work but I don't feel like I'm doing anything particularly useful and/or meaningful and I might as well cut it off by the end of this tour. I don't know.

source: various.

01:10:2004 :: REMINDER! The special PJ concert that was filmed and performed in St. Luke's Church in London on August 24th is going to be broadcast on BBC 4 Sessions on Friday, October 1st (THAT'S TONIGHT!), between 9pm-10pm -- the show is also going to be repeated between 2am-3am of Saturday (Friday night), ocotber 2nd and on Sunday, October 3rd, between 1.10am-2.10am (Saturday night). All times are intended in GMT.

You can view a clip of the band performing Harder on the BBC 4 website (direct RV link).
